Bell Park Gotcha Program  (Really PEBS)

The Gotcha program is really part of a bigger program called PEBS (Positive Effective Behaviour Supports).  This program has been mandated by the NS Department of Education.  Bell Park is in its second year of the program.

PEBS is about the adults in a community determining the expectations.  These expectations are clearly explained and taught to the students.  Students are rewarded with praise as well as Gotcha when they are "caught" following the expectations of the school.  With clear expectations and positive rewards this will help most students.  The students who need more support work with school staff and home to plan for more help to meet school expectations.

Bell Park has the basic expectation of RESPECT for SELF, OTHERS, LEARNING, and the ENVIRONMENT.  We also have a matrix of expectations for different areas of the school.  All staff members are encouraged to give out Gotchas.  There is a weekly and monthly draw for students who receive Gotchas.
